I had 8 minis that looked like mages (more or less… wizard, sorcerer, mage, necromancer, whatever).
I tried to give each of them an elemental theme with a complementary colour scheme.
For the terrain, I made the top of what could be a tower, with a “crystal ball” of each elemental colour. And an illithid that is coming menacingly to the top… because it looks cool.

The “don’t f*ck with me I’m here to destroy”, red/fire and brown/earth:
And the “yeah man, nature first”, green/nature and yellow/disease:
